The Blessed one walked within an area approximately 400 miles by 300 miles during the course of the 45 years following his enlightenment at Bodhgaya. Walking alone or with groups of monks, wherever he went he gave teachings to all who requested them – as well as giving counsel to Kings and religious leaders when they approached him. At night it is said that his kuti would glow with the brilliant lights of the Devas who also approached him for instruction.
